Welcome to Chilham Estate.

In the heart of Kent, Chilham rises gracefully above the timeless Great Stour River. The estate’s lime-rich, free-draining soils sit atop ancient chalk, creating the ideal conditions for nurturing exceptional vines and premium English still and sparkling wines. Prime terroir for world-class Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Meunier. The estate is named after the region’s historic village of Chilham, a jewel of the Garden of England.

The Pitout Family

“We’re nurturing more than vines, we’re cultivating a legacy.”

The first shoots of a long-held dream for Wayne Pitout and his sons, Jarred and Teagan, took root in 2021. After years of searching for the ideal site, they secured an 86 acre apple orchard in Kent. Established vignerons, they were inspired by their success in South Africa and saw the potential for cool-climate viticulture in the U.K

Site-specific winegrowing, in cool, maritime Kent.

“We believe Chilham will meaningfully contribute to the growing reputation of the fine wines of Kent,”

Wayne Pitout
